A lifelong artist with an eclectic style, Gerad’s creative journey spans everything from painting and drawing to digital design and animation. He finds inspiration in music, movement, and good conversation—often painting to the sound of National Radio.

Have you always done your field of art or was there other types of art that you have done? If so, what types?
I have worked in multiple disciplines from painting and drawing, scraper board, acrylic, oils to digital mediums including, 3d modelling, animation, digital drawing and painting.

When did you start doing your art?
I’ve always drawn - since as long as I can remember.

When did you start your entrepreneur journey?
In my early twenties.

How do you describe your artwork style?
Eclectic.

What is the best/ideal environment for you when creating your artwork?
Listening to National Radio.

Who is your hero? / Who do you admire the most? And why?
Paul McCartney! He’s not a painter but he paints with sound the way id like to paint with paint!

What values are important to you?
Honesty, discipline and compassion.

Any advice for aspiring NZ artists?
Do what you love and the opportunities will come.

What was the inspo behind your artwork for your PieceHouse puzzle?

What do you do to help keep your mental health in a positive place?
I swim 1km four times a week and play golf as often as possible (and spend time with family)!
